Please take a few minutes and review the most frequently asked questions regarding the Cars For Kids Foundation Vehicle Donation Program! Thank you!

1.) What types of vehicles do you accept for donation?
Answer: We accept cars, boats, trailers, motorcycles,riding lawn mowers, snowmobiles, RVs, jet skis,trucks, busses.

2.) Do you accept non running vehicles?

Answer: Yes, if the vehicle, inside and outside, is in good condition we will accept the donation.

3.) Do you accept vehicles that have engine,transmission, or other mechanical problems?
Answer: Yes, we do accept these types of vehicles.

4.) What types of vehicles will you not accept?

Answer: We do not accept vehicles that have been involved in an accident, have no tires, have no titles, or have parts missing from the vehicle.

5.) Do you charge the donor for picking up the vehicle?

Answer: No, pickup service is FREE!

6.) How quickly do you pick the vehicle up?

Answer: Usually within 24 to 72 hours, or 1 to 3 days.

7.) Do you accept "junk cars"?
Answer: Yes, we do because some cars can be sold for parts.

8.) Where is your pickup area?
Answer: We pickup anywhere within a 90 mile radius of the Chicagoland area, including northwest Indiana and southern Wisconsin.

9.) What do I need to give to the tow truck company when they pick up the car?
Answer: The keys, the car, and the title.

10.) What does the tow truck driver give me when I give him the car?
Answer: A receipt that acknowledges your car has been picked up. Keep the receipt until you receive the tax letter from Cars For Kids Foundation.

11.) What do I do about the title?
Answer: You sign on the signature of seller line. Sign exactly as the name is written on the title.

12.) How much will I receive as a tax deduction for my car? Answer: This is regulated by the IRS. The IRS allows you to claim a tax deduction of:


1) the value of the vehicle up to $500 or
2) The exact amount the vehicle sells for if it exceeds $500.

The Cars For Kids Foundation will send you a tax letter indicating the amount you can use as your tax deduction.
